|Abstract: ||Radon is a natural radioactive substance, it is an inert gas that exists in soil, rocks and building materials. The gas decays into radioactive particles called radon progeny that can enter the humans body through breathing. Radon, thoron and their progenies as a natural radiation hazards to human health is well known. These gases are present in the environment and their level of concentration depends upon geographical and geological conditions, meteorological factors, etc. The indoor radon, thoron concentration is also influenced by building materials, ventilating system and soil gas diffusion. World Health Organization, categorized radon as carcinogenic substance causing Lung Cancer. 85% of radon induced lung cancer deaths among smokers. Apart of this radon helps in earthquake Prediction. The occurrence of earthquake is a global phenomenon, earthquakes occur to release of stress built within the earth due to some reason or other. Radon activity observed in underground environments before major earthquakes. In this synopsis we report that radon is a radioactive element which can cause lung cancer, this study is effective to understand the material character in various places of area under study. In this study we use LR-115 Type (II) detector, Indoor and Outdoor radon concentration helps us to identify places safe from radiation hazard. Gamma ray spectrometry will help to find out the radium and uranium content in the selected places.
