|Abstract: ||The research highlights the prismatic off-shoots of modern life that exists in metro cities of India, as delineated by Chetan Bhagat in his novels. Chetan Bhagat belongs to post modern group of authors who have taken up the matters belonging to metro cities. There are various prismatic offshoots of metropolitan life throwing light on the life of youth, their culture, their aspirations reaching the sky line, their monetary goals, their challenges, their adventurous and romantic life with stress and multiple complexes, love relationship etc. Besides the youthful whims and moods, attitudes and aptitudes, Chetan Bhagat has presented the educational system of modern institutes in metro cities, in lurid colours, stressful examination system, wayward life of youth sometimes lagging culture etc.
newlineToday the youth is bent upon creativity and independence. The young mind wishes to drop the very hard facts of life as described by Charles Dickens in Hard Times. The youth cries for independence in choosing vocation as per avocation without following the oft quoted path of career as envisioned by their elders. There is a complete world of youth ruled by youth in metro cities in the writings of Chetan Bhagat and youth wishes to show what latent talent is bubbling in their hearts and waiting for immediate expression. The research study highlights the prevalent paradoxes in the world of Chetan Bhagat; the grit of youth in Metro cities to face the challenges is to be further analyzed. These young men and women may be hidden by the chill penury, or the social inhibitions, but they make an attempt to get a start firmly controlled by the innovate thinking having an edge over parental supremacy; they need metamorphic change as they are now weary of restraints of the orthodox customs. It contributes to the amelioration of thousands of young men and women who yearn for freedom in their lives in the choice of their career and life style.
