|Abstract: ||Software testing is probably the most complex task in the software development cycle. It is one of the most time consuming process. The complexity of software systems has been increasing dramatically in the past decade, and software testing as a labor-intensive component is becoming more and more expensive. Existing bug or defect in software can later cause a big harm to the system at the time of implementation. Erroneous software can usually bring a big damage to the software by failing to meet the customer satisfaction level at the time of implementation and execution. Successful testing of software is the most critical aspect of software development. For a successful software development and implementation adequate level of software testing is mandatory. Largely the efficiency of software testing depends upon the appropriate set of test cases. There is a need to reduce this test suite to an adequate level so that maximum errors can be revealed with minimum possible test cases. Manual test case generation requires lots of time and efforts and does not guarantee for completeness in test cases generated. In order to reduce the cost of software testing, it is required to find an automatic test case generation techniques to generate effective test cases for maximum coverage of testing software system. Web applications are collection of web pages developed for client server architectures. With the growth of network and extensive use of Internet, there is a sharp rise in on-line transactions. All web applications and their web sites are on-line and interactive. Thus testing these applications are the challenging task.
newlineThe aim of this research will be to develop an efficient algorithm for test case reduction and prioritization. The proposed algorithm will reduce the test cases by eliminating redundant test cases. The reduced test cases shall be prioritized by using Particle Swarm Optimization technique. This prioritization will automatically rearrange the test cases so that high priority test cases are executed first. This will ensure maximum coverage of errors with minimum number of test cases. The aim is to optimize the test cases so that the time and space complexity of test cases execution can be reduced which will eventually reduce the cost and effort of tester.
