Abstract: Title of Ph.D. thesis:- Seminal Analysis, Dermatoglyphics, and Molecular Genes (DBY, RBMY and DAZ) Studies in Young Male-A Tool for Marriage Counseling. newlineInfertility is a major concern among married couples when they fail to achieve conception even after one year of regular unprotected intercourse. Infertility causes emotional and severe sychological stress to the couples and is a social stigma and it can constitute a major life crisis in the social context. newlineTo know the scientific reason(s) about infertility in human being this dissertation work is being carried out with the following aims and objectives. newlineAims and objectives of study: newline To study the chromosomal, dermatoglyphic patterns and seminal analysis of infertile male patients. newline To try and co-relate dermatoglyphics with chromosomal aberrations. newline To try and co-relate chromosomal aberrations and repeated failures after ARTs in patients which will help to decide about the line of treatment and genetic counselling. newline To look for a marker for mass screening in male infertility. newline The genes DBY, RBMY and DAZ are included testis-specific azoospermic factor (AZFa, AZFb, and AZFc). newlineType of study:- This is a case-control cross sectional prospective study containing inclusion criteria as: newline Married infertile male as case and married fertile male as control for at least 12 months having regular unprotected intercourse. newlineFor this study exclusion criteria would contain following heads: newline Male below 18 years. newline Couples with female factor infertility newline Smokers. newlineSample size:- With the use of bioinformatics tools the calculated minimum sample size for this study was found 55. Furthermore the calculated minimum sample size for control group was approximately 104. In order to control loss of follow up and manual errors, we finalised the sample size 110 for controls (60 cases and 110 controls). newline
