Abstract: Machine learning has provided a capability to learn from past experience and take decision for
newlineupcoming tasks. Machine learning with its advancements is showing very promising results in
newlinemany real world applications including medical domain. Availability of automated systems in
newlinehealth care especially in cancer classification, prediction and prognosis estimation has become
newlinepossible with the application of machine learning algorithms. Very extensively skilled and
newlineexperienced practitioners are required for complete manual evaluation of all the biomedical data
newlinefor cancer prediction and diagnosis. With the developments in hardware technology and imaging
newlinedata availability, neural networks are showing very good results in automated learning from
newlineprevious datasets and generating automated systems for cancer prediction and prognosis to help
newlinemedical practitioners in decision making. The neural networks with deep layers, also known as
newlinedeep neural networks are expected to extract features and learn with better accuracy. Recently a
newlinelot of research is carrying out in various common occurring cancer like kidney, prostate, lungs
newlineand oral cancer. Our proposed work aims at applying deep learning in radiological data of Head
newlineand Neck cancer region and achieving a good accuracy for prediction and prognosis in same.
newlineRadiomics is an upcoming field of extracting complex high dimensional features from medical
newlineimages like CT scans, PET(Positron Emission Tomography), HSI(Hyper spectral Images),
newlineMRI images, Ultrasound, CLE (Confocal Laser Endomicroscopy. These extracted features can
newlinebe used to train a model for prediction and prognosis puposes. The most powerful ability of deep
newlineconvolutional neural network is to extract multiple features. The training time can be reduced by
newlineapplying a pre trained network to fine tune our given task of prediction and prognosis.
newlineA study to map career guidance needs amongst biotechnology students with special reference to the national capital regionhttp://hdl.handle.net/20.500.14146/151312024-03-28T11:36:52ZTitle: A study to map career guidance needs amongst biotechnology students with special reference to the national capital region
Abstract: he Indian biotechnology sector comprises biopharmaceuticals, bioagriculture,
newlinebioservices, bioinformatics, and bioindustrial segments and has witnessed substantial growth
newlinewith 760 core companies and over 5,300 startups. This study delves into career trajectories
newlinewithin the Indian biotechnology industry, emphasizing roles in research and development,
newlineupstream processing, downstream processing, production, quality assurance, quality control,
newlinebusiness development, intellectual property rights management, regulatory affairs, and
newlinescientific writing. Beyond academic qualifications, employers emphasize quotEmployability
newlineSkillsquot - a combination of domain knowledge, scientific fundamentals, and sector-specific
newlineexpertise.
newlineAcademic institutions play a pivotal role in nurturing skilled human resource for nationbuilding.
newlineNumerous universities offer undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in
newlineBiotechnology. However, as the biotechnology industry evolves and manufacturing
newlinetechnologies advance ahead, a notable gap has seemed to emerge between the knowledge
newlineacquired by students and the skills expected by employers. Employers express dissatisfaction
newlinewith students employability skills and need for upskilling of the students, necessitating
newlinecollaboration between academia and industry to align biotechnology curriculum with industry
newlineneeds.
newlineThe study proposes to analyse skill gap in biotechnology education and prepare
newlinecomprehensive career guidance resource for M.Sc. biotechnology students. It highlights the
newlineneed for skill gap analysis, presenting career guidance on job roles, requisite skill sets, and
newlineindustry recruitment processes. The proposed resource aims to empower students, enabling
newlinethem to align their interests, skills, and training with industry demands. This dynamic database,
newlinetailored to biotechnology, serves as a valuable tool for job search, networking, research, and
newlinelong-term career development, providing graduates with a competitive edge in the evolving
newlinebiotechnology job market.
